First-year Philosophy students at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University held a meaningful debate event on April 16, 2026, as part of their "Introduction to the History of Science" course. Held in the Mahir İz Amphitheater, the event saw students discuss different perspectives on the topic of "The Scientific Nature of Social Sciences."

In this academic setting, students had the opportunity to substantiate their views on whether social sciences are indeed sciences in terms of methodology, scope, and validity. Throughout the event, participants demonstrated their critical thinking, argument development, and ability to evaluate opposing viewpoints.

It was observed that such events organized within the scope of the course contribute to the development of students' analytical thinking skills and reinforce the culture of academic debate. The debate was successfully completed thanks to the active participation of the students and a disciplined discussion environment.
